Here is a behaviour post 1. It is important that you track the behavior of your child as he or she grows up. At times, your child’s behavior can change and the things that he or she says might sound our=t of whack with what normally she would say. I would then advice you to really pay attention to her. You can start by asking her questions on why she is saying the things she does.

My son once came to me and asked me a question, “Why is the Sun so bright today Mummy? I need a pair of shades. Its hurting my eyes.” Well, that is a very generic question right? But I had to answer that question and I said, “Well, the sun shines bright every day because it wants to see you and me being happy.”

One of the things that I really like to do with my kids is to actually bake a cake with them. Baking a cake nevertheless can be a messy issue at the end of the day but it is going to be extremely worth it. Why do I say that? Well, I believe that when we enrich our children’s lives, we at the same time enrich our own lives too. As such try to get your children involved in the activities that you love to do. If you love gardening, then try to get your children to love gardening as well. Teach him the ins and outs of the activities that you are interested in and you will be surprised that your kid might just love doing those things too.

Here is a discipline post that I wrote after visiting the national library. Disciplining a child requires skill and the knowledge of a few strategies. One of the strategies that I often use when disciplining my child is actually to think of something that motivates them. Well. It has to be specific to every child. Not every child likes to a lollipop. Some would prefer mints than lollipop. I know, you are reading this in disbelief. Which child would refuse a lollipop right?I think you get the point here. You need to find something that can motivate your child, if possible something that would really get him or her so very interested.

Below are some things that I motivate my child with:

something that they would love to eat

an activity that they would love to do

promising to buy them a toy

promising them to bring them to their cousin’s place. Nothing beats having fun with other children.

promise to send them to a camp of their choice during the school holidays

promise to buy them shoes. (That’s something that my daughter loves so much! Pretty pink shoes to be specific.

The list can go on and on. However, do take note that you’ve got to vary the things you promise them and also it has to fit your budget. You do not want to promise your kids something that you can’t fulfill as that is really going to affect them in a negative way.

Till then!
